The weekend is here! The weather looks a bit chilly and perhaps a little rainy… but that’s not to say there are any activities to do this weekend in the Bend & Redmond areas. Here are some ideas:

Looking to do a fun family activity this weekend? Well, considering that it’s October and Halloween is approaching, nothing says “October!” like visiting the local pumpkin patch & corn maze. We spotted this Terrebonne, Oregon event listing and thought we’d share the information. From the site:
“Enjoy fall colors and the company of friends and family with this traditional outing. Stop in the harvest market for your fall decorating. With bins full of colorful winter squashes, assorted gourds, mini pumpkins, and Indian corn, there will be plenty of fall colors to warm your home. Also enjoy fresh local apples, honey, jams, apple cider and more treats for your family.”

Another great event is happening in Bend, OR November 1-4 - The Nature of Words. Details from the site:
“The Nature of Words, Central Oregon’s premier literary event, annually showcases acclaimed authors and poets whose writing deals primarily, but not exclusively, with the literal and metaphorical Western landscape. Scheduled for November 1-4, 2007, participants in the long weekend can choose from author readings, workshops, and panel discussions.”
Sounds like a wonderful event. Ticket prices vary depending on the level of participation you desire. If you’re interested, you can purchase tickets on the Nature of Words site or by calling 541.318.5457.

As I have said before, right now is the best time to buy a new home, especially in Central Oregon. Buyers have more negotiating power now, and with house prices softened the ball is now squarely in the buyer’s court.
So what should you offer?
Well first, decide what it is that you really want. Is it the house itself, negotiating a great deal, lots of upgrades thrown in at the right price, a certain payment? After you have decided on the goals, then craft the offer.
Builders are much more inclined to give $20,000 worth of upgrades than a price reduction.
