Snow has come a bit early to Bend, and with snow comes unsafe driving conditions. I just wanted to point out an excellent resource on Weather.com that lists some driving safety tips for snow & ice. A couple of highlights:
- Bridge & overpasses can be particularly nasty when it’s snowy and icy. Take extra precaution!
- Pack some kitty litter or sand in your car or truck’s trunk. If you find yourself stuck, pour some in front of your wheels to help gain a little bit of traction

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of family, friends and, of course, food. Did anyone attend any Central Oregon or Bend-area events this past weekend? We would like to hear about it!

It is not a secret that home sales around the nation have declined from peak levels reached in 2005. One can speculate about the reasons for the downturn, but I’m interested in finding answers to why it has continued despite solid fundamentals.
During recent discussions with realtors, I have discovered that there are consumers actively looking to purchase homes but that they don’t have any sense of urgency.
Therefore, I pose this question to our readers, “What are the reasons that many actively looking home buyers are sitting on the sidelines, seemingly waiting for something to happen? What is it that they’re waiting for?”

What is a “Responsible Home“?

In Woodhill Homes‘ opinion, a responsible home incorporates Earth Advantage requirements, Energy Star standards and is affordably priced. These homes are built more like a sports car then a truck. They are high performing and energy efficient. How do we accomplish this?
To be a certified Earth Advantage and Energy Star builder, Woodhill Homes must build to strict building science guidelines. One of the goals of the Responsible Home is to build highly energy efficient homes using sustainable building products. Woodhill Park is our first subdivision incorporating these building practices. The homes in Woodhill Park are constructed with energy efficiency in mind. Highly energy efficient windows, specific framing and insulation techniques are used to ensure there are no air leaks. A third party tests every house to ensure Woodhill Homes meets the required air tightness.
