Why we moved to Bend, Oregon
My wife and I had both been ski bums in Sun Valley, Idaho and we had a goal to get back to an area with a similar life style. We had moved to Portland from Eugene after finishing studies at the University of Oregon. We promised ourselves that we would move to Bend within five years of our move to Portland. Life got going, secure job, my wife had a successful speech therapy business, purchased a home, went to graduate school, had our first boy - roots were being set. In year 6 of Portland we realized that unless we started seriously looking into a move to Bend it would never happen.There are a number of reasons that convinced my wife and I to move our family to Central Oregon a little over five years ago. We lived in Southeast Portland and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, the attraction of Central Oregon was too hard to resist. There were five major reasons we took the risk to pick up the stakes and head “east”:
