In Woodhill Homes‘ opinion, a responsible home incorporates Earth Advantage requirements, Energy Star standards and is affordably priced. These homes are built more like a sports car then a truck. They are high performing and energy efficient. How do we accomplish this?

Energy Star Homes LogoTo be a certified Earth Advantage and Energy Star builder, Woodhill Homes must build to strict building science guidelines. One of the goals of the Responsible Home is to build highly energy efficient homes using sustainable building products. Woodhill Park is our first subdivision incorporating these building practices. The homes in Woodhill Park are constructed with energy efficiency in mind. Highly energy efficient windows, specific framing and insulation techniques are used to ensure there are no air leaks. A third party tests every house to ensure Woodhill Homes meets the required air tightness.

What benefit does this have to a homeowner?

Earth advantage testing has proven a 20-30% savings in monthly utility bills over a conventional house. In a 1500 square foot house this is savings of approximately $30 a month. As utility costs rise, the savings will be even greater.

Additional energy saving features are found in the mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems. A 90% energy efficient furnace is used instead of the typical 80% efficiency in conventional houses. High performance heat ducting is used so heat is not lost as it is delivered to the interior of the house. Dual flush toilets are installed for water conservation. Weathermatic Smart Line irrigation is used to conserve water during irrigation times. Energy Star appliances and lights are used in every house. In addition each house is wired to accept solar (photo voltaic) panels.

Providing these benefits at an affordable price is the key to producing the Responsible Home. Our Woodhill Park homes start at $199,950.
