Before Choosing a Builder Make Sure You Do This

Although the Tour of Homes will be a great opportunity for home buyers to learn more about local builders and view recently completed homes, it’s still important to do your homework. If you plan on building a home within the next 12 months, make sure that you ask these important questions when interviewing a builder:

  1. How many central Oregon homes have you built over the last three years?
  2. How long will it take to build a home? Can you give me a timeline for the construction of my home?
  3. Can you show me samples of your current or previous work?
  4. Is home-building your only business?
  5. Do you allow site visits? And under what circumstances?
  6. What is your process for handling problems after the construction of my home is finished?
  7. Can you tell me more about any construction industry sponsored training programs that you may have participated in?
  8. Can you provide me with references?
  9. Tell me more about your exact experience, how long have you actually been in the construction business?

Don’t forget that if you plan on buying or building a home in Central Oregon this will most likely be one of the biggest financial transactions of your life so it literally pays to take your time with finding the right builder so you can have 100% confidence that you’re choosing the best builder before you buy the home of your dreams.
